  Managing Allergy:

  Handling Attacks

Although they can be minimised, attacks cannot be totally excluded. However, through proper management their duration and effect can be largely controlled.

What to Do

  1. Remain calm.
  2. Go to a well-ventilated area.
  3. Take the relaxation position recommended by your doctor or physiotherapist.
  4. Breathe in through the nose (to warm the air) and breathe out through pressed lips (to maintain pressure in the bronchi).
  5. Take the medication prescribed by your doctor in exactly the prescribed dose.

In case of a severe attack, do not hesitate to call your doctor!

What NOT to Do

  1. Do not become nervous or panicky (emotional stress can worsen the attack).
  2. Do not overuse your bronchodilator.
  3. Do not take a sedative or other calming medication.

In case of a severe attack, do not hesitate to call your doctor!
